Hearts on a String
- Disease Resistant
- Fast Growing
- Heart-Shaped Flowers
The Bleeding Heart Spectabilis, ‘Dicentra spectabilis, is a fast-growing perennial with pink, heart-shaped flowers. It is the most common variety in its species & the blooms look wonderful against its grayish foliage.
This Bleeding Heart will bloom from May to September and is a major attractor to butterflies. It is heat tolerant and needs moist soil. Do not let it dry out.
The foliage does go dormant, so it is best to plant this bleeding heart among later developing perennials such as hostas and ferns which will fill in as the bleeding heart foliage begins to die back.
‘Spectabilis’ makes excellent cut flowers, in mass with groundcovers, or in potted containers. Since it has been an old fashioned garden favorite for many years, it is a must in any landscape! Order your own today!
