True Blue Salvia

The Salvia ‘Blue Hills’, Salvia nemorosa ‘Blauhugel’, has glowing purple stems loaded with true blue flowers that bloom from June to October. With its gray-green aromatic foliage, it makes an attractive accent all summer long.

Salvia ‘Blue Hills’ should be planted in full sun in a moist well-drained area.

To increase bloom time, ‘Blue Hills’ should be cut back after the first bloom. Attracting butterflies, bees and hummingbirds, it is also is deer-resistant.

You cannot fail with this hardy, container gardening Salvia, and it will provide you with excellent cut flowers too. If you plant it next to Sedum ‘Matrona’, Achillea ‘Coronation Gold’ and Saliva ‘Snow Hill’ you will have a fantastic and colorful landscape.

‘Blue Hills’ is an excellent summer container item and impressive when you plant it in mass plantings in large beds. You will not just want one brilliant ‘Blue Hills’ plant. Place it in groupings of three or five! If you plant these salvias so they form a triangle or a sweep, the Salvia plants will grow together to make one clump of an amazing color. This creates a bright garden spot that will be the envy of everyone who sees it!
